Skill Game of the Week – Impossible Road (Kevin Ng)

What are we talking about here?

Impossible Road is a wacky, roller-coaster ride of a game that is built around simple graphics and very, very difficult gameplay. The point of the game is to control a white ball as it hurtles down a long and twisting road that bears more resemblance to a typical white-knuckle theme park ride than your local motorway. The controls are simple, move the ball left or right, but staying in  control is another matter altogether. The game has achieved considerable success including second place in the iPad category of the ‘App Store Best of 2013’ awards.

What are we talking about here?

Bubble Ball is an entertaining physics puzzle game built around the simple goal of guiding a little bubble towards a flag using an array of props. In this game, gravity is both your friend and your opponent. First released in 2010, Bubble Ball has been downloaded over 16 million times and at one point displaced Angry Birds at the top of the Apple App Store.

Skill Game Of The Week – Only One (Ernest Szoka)

What are we talking about here?

Only One is is a delightful, unique and intensely retro arcade game in which you defend yourself against all comers armed with a trusty magic sword and your wits. To make matters more interesting, the battlefield is an “ancient pillar of sacrifice” in the sky with lethal drops from all sides. The endgame? Fight off waves of enemies until you remain the ‘only one’ standing. A bit of advice, though. Don’t try the free cake.
